At FME, we realize that cost is always a consideration for our customers. That’s why our procurement professionals have an ongoing commitment to reducing raw material costs and avoiding or mitigating price increases for both production and prototype builds. Our Purchasing Department maintains supply chain certifications through continuous training and adheres to the highest ethical standards in dealing with supply sources.
SPOTLIGHT on PROCUREMENT and INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
We understand that there’s more to successful purchasing than simply focusing on price. Our buying staff works overtime to monitor product for on-time delivery and accuracy. We purchase only from franchised or otherwise vetted sources by means of an Approved Supplier List, and we cultivate key suppliers who will go the extra procurement mile for us. For ongoing production, we use automated MRP via a state-of-the-art ERP system to ensure we’re ordering the right parts at the right time to meet your requested dock dates.
Need help with your Bill of Material? We’ll work to source alternates for obsolete and end-of-life components. Do you require documentation to show compliance with Conflict Mineral legislation? We’ll help provide that information. Worried about counterfeit materials? We have policies in place to ensure supply chain integrity.
Concerned about handling of your material? As soon as product arrives on our dock, our Shipping/Receiving Associate verifies parts to packing list and Purchase Order, with a secondary check made at the labeling and stocking operation. Select parts requiring additional inspection go through a separate QA assessment. Secure stock locations by customer project are established for all inventory, while consigned parts are warehoused separately in “customer owned” areas. Regular cycle counts help preserve accuracy of inventory levels.
When it’s time to ship, we’re equally diligent! We make sure that your finished assemblies receive a final verification of parts against paperwork before shipping. If you have special freight and labeling requirements, we’re happy to comply. We offer assistance with custom boxes, crates, or pallet designs to ensure the safe transport of product from our dock to yours.
